The Beauty of Mathematics

4. Dezember 2013 - 14:44 Uhr

Could also be called „The Beauty of Video“ :) A very nice visualization of math behind everyday things like coffee, trees and snowflakes through a triptych format. We see the object in the right frame, a mathematical model in the center and equations on the left.

math

“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, without the gorgeous trappings of painting or music.” Bertrand Russell

The Fallen Tree Bench by Benjamin Graindorge is made from a piece of glass and a carefully carved oak tree.

„Graindorge chose to leave the orignal branches from the tree intact as support on one end of the bench as reminder of the wood’s living origins.“

A Chandelier that Projects Tree Shadows

16. Mai 2013 - 15:54 Uhr

A chandelier that projects tree shadows!!! A CHANDELIER THAT PROJECTS… Ok, I’ll stop with this 😀

Unfortunately only a concept named Forms in Nature from danish Hilden & Diaz.

„The forest is mirrored around it’s horizontal central axis and forms a circle 360 degrees around the light source and thereby leads one onto the notion of a real world versus an underworld.“

20130406-120232

„Interestingly, the roots are those elements of the forest that are the most visible. Thereby the sculpture is not only mirrored, but also turned upside down in Hilden & Diaz’ artwork. As the intensity of the light source increases, the room changes and the space slowly becomes more and more fascinating and unheimlich.“

Could become a Kickstarter project if enough people write emails!

Niice. A search engine with taste.

24. April 2013 - 16:27 Uhr

Designers often need a pool of mood pictures for developing new ideas and getting inspiration. The most search engines provide a huge amount of image data, but in an unfiltered and unsystematic way.  Therefore the searching process is time-consuming, not very effective and can even disturb the inspiration process.

But fortunately there is a brilliant alternative: Niice.co .

niice

Niice is a search engine, which only provides a filtered collection of high-quality mood pictures, arranged in an attractive grid layout. It has never been easier to get inspiration! Try it out!
